It could have been strep I'm not sure exactly. She has been in the hospital for 50+ days and was recently discharged and is now back again.
While she was in the hospital she received a heart pump and a defibrillator.

Allyssa not doing well
Posted 1 hour ago
Allyssa was put back into ICU last night. She was having unexplained tremors/convulsions. It was thought to be a medication reaction but they were not sure. Doctors were trying to a CT scan. Doctors called family this morning and said to come to hospital to meet. They are trying to locate Dr. Frazier for another possible surgery. They think there is a possible heart pump problem. More update later after meeting
Short stay at home

Allyssa went home as planned on last Wednesday. She rested alot. She did begin eating better and even went out on some short shopping trips with Mom and Ashlee. Saturday night she made her first trip out to go eat. Since Ashlee had to return to the cruise ship on Sunday the family went to Lupe Tortilla's on Saturday night. It was an enjoyable last night for the family to be together before Ashlee left. Allyssa was tired the next couple of days from all of the activity on Saturday. Monday night Allyssa got nauseated and threw up a couple of times. She went to the emergency room that night but was released Tuesday morning about 3:00 am. The cardiologist got the emergency room reports and decided that Allyssa needed to come to the clinic today. Mom took her and after the examination she was re-admitted back into the hospital. She is back on the 12th floor at St. Lukes. She will undergo some testing.
Got to go Home

Well she finally made it. The family met at the hospital at 11:30 am yesterday, June 17. All of the doctors came by for one last checkup and then the Heartmate pump coordinator did the final review and testing with the family. The highlight of this exercise was Austen demonstrating a controller switch in the event of a controller failure. Timing of the swap is critical. The swap out procedure looked like a Nascar pit stop. The review and testing went fine and Allyssa and the family left the hospital and headed for home at 3:40 pm. Allyssa has to go back to the hospital cardiovascular clinic once a week on Thursdays. Allyssa was happy to be home, hopefully for good.Allyssa and her family wish to thank all of the neighbors, friends, and relatives for their kindness, thoughts, and prayers during this time of her illness and recovery. The journey is not over but Allyssa is tough and she will make it just fine.
Final Stages Are Near

After the defibrillator surgery last week Allyssa hard a rough time. On Thursday she was in a lot of pain and needed a lot of medication. This caused problems with her recent anesthesia. Her body had not been active enough to purge itself of the anesthesia and she was getting pain medication which caused her breathing to slow down and stop. This was quickly discovered and corrected without much problem. She had to get up and get moving on Friday to get the anesthesia out of her system. This was done sucessfully. She improved over the weekend and by Sunday she desperately wanted to go home.On Monday they decided that she could get a four hour pass to leave the hospital with her family. Allyssa was excited. Dad and Ashlee picked her up at 4:00 pm and took her home. Mom made lasanga and mom, dad, Austen Ashlee, Allyssa and her grandparents had a wonderfull meal together. Allyssa went back to the hospital last night but today she gets an eight hour pass. Ashlee will pick her up at noon today so she can spend some more time around the house. Mom and Allyssa are going to make a stop over at Sweatwater Spa. She is very excited. If all goes well today the family will be called in tomorrow for a discharge meeting. If that goes ok Allyssa will be home by Wednesday night. Allyssa and the family can hardly wait. That would be 54 days in the hospital.
Surgery Over

The surgery was over at 6:00 pm. The doctor came out and told the family that everything went ok. Mom, Dad, and Austen will get to see her at around 6:45 pm. She will be in surgical ICU and remain there overnight. She should be able to return to her room in the morning. The doctor that did the surgery thinks she will be able to leave the hospital in about a week.
Tuesday is Surgery Day
Posted Jun 9, 2009 12:26pm
It is 12:20 on Tuesday and the defibrillator surgery is scheduled for 2:00 pm. Dr. Frazier the heart surgeon has to come in and give the final go ahead. If this goes well then hopefully Allysssa will be able to make her final recovery and be able to go home in a week or so. She has been in the hospital for 45 days.
